Lend A Hand To Napa Valley

“Come out and play!!!”

That is what the vineyard business owners, wine makers and chefs are saying to the public.  This September 25 head out to Napa to participate in Napa Valley Rocks events the locals have organized to help raise money to rebuild their wine country and help quake victims.

On August 24 a 6.0 magnitude earthquake hit the city of Napa, California making it the worst since the 1989 Bay Area quake.  Over $400 million in damages has been done; it broke water mains and gas lines and sparked gas-fed fires that destroyed mobile homes.  The worst damage is found in the epicenter of downtown where the post office, library, a large hotel and 150 homes have been deemed unsafe to occupy.

On Thursday the 25th begin the fundraising events with “Nourish Napa” at the Napa Valley Marriott.  Exquisite chefs, Ken Frank, Tyler Rodd and Iron Chef Masaharu Morimoto will create a world-class wine dinner where you will pair different local wines with every course.  Tickets $200/pp

Napa Night Out in downtown happens on the 26th, Community Meet up at the Oxbow Public Market is on September 27 and a concert benefit starting at noon on the 28th featuring Michael Franti and Spearhead among others. Tickets $20/pp

Also happening on the 28th the Napa Half Marathon, so runners bring your running shoes and get moving!  It starts at 7 am and begins and ends at the Skyline Wilderness Park in Napa taking your through vineyards and back roads.  A great way to see the “local” side of Napa!  Entry costs $80 in advance, $90 day of race.

Beneficiaries of each even include downtown Napa businesses and residents of Napa.
