What is a military travel loan and how do you get one? Q&A with followers…

Military Travel Loans…..Do you qualify?

What United Military Travel offers is a chance to do the traveling you want/need to do NOW and pay it back monthly over a set term.  You can also use your approval for travel accessories like cameras, Ipads, GoPros, Kindles, etc that you would like to take on a trip with you.
Here is a list of questions I have been getting from readers:

Q: Why take out a travel loan when I have enough money to pay for it up front?
A: Taking out a travel loan more than likely will give you more money to play with on your vacation/leave than if you were to rely on your “cash” alone.  The lender will approve you for a specific amount and you can either use all of it creating a dream vacation, bring along more people, or use the rest to purchase a travel accessory for your trip.  By paying for your trip over a monthly basis you can use the “cash” you have on your trip and not have to count quarters the whole time….you can enjoy yourself the way you deserve too! Also, this is a super effective way to either build your credit, or repair your credit.  The payment is set up via allotments so you are automatically having the payments pulled.  This builds good credit given you do not change the allotment schedule.

Q: Who qualifies for these “cheap military travel loans”?
A: UMT provides travel loans for government and military personnel – active and retired.

Q: What if my credit score isn’t the best – should I even bother calling in?
A: Absolutely!  What the lenders primarily look at is your debt to income ratio and how much you want to borrow.  UMT’s goal is to not create financial difficulty for you but to send you on a stress free vacation.  They have a 97% approval rating because “bad credit” really doesn’t play a huge factor in our travel loans.  See for yourself and apply for credit now 🙂

Q: What if I want to use my approval for someone other than me? Like I want to fly my fiance to see me rather than take a vacation.
A: Of course, you can use your approval for whomever you like as long as your recognize YOU will be the one paying it back and it is YOUR paycheck the allotments come out of.  But yes, UMT can book the travel in anyone’s name.

Q: What if I know where I want to go and with who but am not sure of when….I just want to know what I am approved for.
A: UMT can help with that BUT it is not the most effective way to start.  Reason being is that if your approval, at that time, is $2,500 and that is perfect for what you had in mind but it probably is not going to be suitable for your trip a month from when you were approved.  You thank your travel consultant and tell them you will be in touch when you can finalize the dates.  So over a course of two weeks or a month you are planning and budgeting for the $2,500 but when you call back you are told now you need more approval.  Why?  Because airline tickets have risen, the resort no longer is offering the special, you want to bring along another person, and you now want to rent a car.  *Check out my post I wrote earlier about how to catch a good deal on airline tickets.* My biggest suggestion: call in when you are ready to book.

Q: Can I change my travel details after I have booked them?
A: The same rules apply for airline tickets when UMT books them as it does when you and I book them.  If you need to change the dates or departure city etc – there will be responsible for the difference of airfare, the airline’s changing fee, and UMT’s booking fee.  How will you pay for that you may be thinking…You will need remaining approval to cover all the fees.  Regardless of how you book a trip, I NEVER suggest changing anything once it is booked.  That is why it is of the upmost importance when you book to make sure the dates are written in stone.

Q: So why should I book with UMT and pay a booking fee when I can do it myself online?
A: I asked myself the same question the first time I used them.  What has kept me coming back over and over again is that I LOVE the fact that I can call in and talk to my favorite travel consultant.  She knows where I have been and what me and my family like to do.  I give her the details of the trip we are looking to take and she takes care of literally EVERYTHING from there.  So do I mind paying a very small portion to her and the company for taking the work off my plate?  Heck no!  I have tried booking a detailed trip for multiple people and being a mommy and a career woman it takes a lot of time and energy…my philosophy is “let the professionals do it.” Also, UMT has special relationships with all the major consolidators all over the world which brings up discounted travel options that we do not have access to.  Personally, I am a person who does not believe in paying full price when I have the option of getting a discount.

If you have other questions please, please do not hesitate to ask.  I believe in this company and love sharing how they take me and my family all over the world.

We are not rich, nor do we live some extraordinary life but we do travel like we do 🙂
